Who we are
Life Needs and Empowerment Initiative is a non-governmental, not for profit organization established to provide succor to indigent and vulnerable members of our society. The organization seeks to provide relief to its target population through building their capacity to advocate for improvement in their existential conditions and through provision of services and support that mitigate their deprivations.
What we do
Nigeria is country with an estimated population of 225 million people. About 60 per cent of the population lives in poverty, many in absolute poverty. Classified as a low income country, it has a low HDI score of 0.539 and is ranked 161 out of 189 countries.
The above translates to millions of people living in dire straits, especially for those living in absolute poverty whose income and what the government provides are not enough to meet their basic needs in food, water, education, health and infrastructural services.
This context provides the justification for an organization like ours to work with others to provide succor to these segments of the population.
We build the capacities of these vulnerable segments of the population especially indigent residents of informal settlements and inmates of correctional centres by training them to engage in advocacy for the improvement of their conditions.
We offer legal and material assistance to them and to victims of natural and man-made disasters; victims of arbitrary use of state power; orphans, widows etc.

Two organs namely the Board of Trustees and the Management are responsible for the operations of the organization.
Board of Trustees
The Board serves as both the advisory and policy making organ of the organization. It is composed of members with diverse but complementary backgrounds and experiences in many fields. Together, they provide the broad road map for the organization and mobilize the resources needed for its operations and sustenance. The Board is headed by a Chairman.
Management
The Management, which runs the Secretariat, is responsible for the day
to day operations of the organization, implementing the decisions of the
Board and ensuring that the mandate, values and objectives of the
organization are upheld at all times. At the head of the Management Team
is the Executive Director.
